Here's a few ways how you can evolve your brand and maybe even cut cost.
DIY - Do It Yourself
By: JaDen Greene

American fashion designer VIrgil Abloh left the blueprint for creators in regards to having a successful clothing brand. On his instagram profile, there is a link in his profile that leads to a "free game" category where he's literally dropping the same gems I am about to give to you (https://virgilabloh.com/free-game). These tips helped me triple my earnings per month, and also help me protect my intellectual property with trademarks and etc. With that being said, please take the time to read through these tips, and long live Virgil Abloh.
Tip #1 - Naming the Brand
•KEEP IT SIMPLE•
When naming your, keep in mind that the brand name should reflect what the brand is and what it stands for. If you want the support of people, you have to show them that what their putting money into has value outside of looking cool. Remember that naming the brand is also the most important part of any business, so don't go with the first thing that comes to mind but don't be afraid to change things either. Your most likely not going to get it right on the first time around, but don't allow that realization to stop you from trying.
Tip #2 - Protect Your A**
According to google, intellectual property is defined as referring to creations of the mind, such as inventions; literary and artistic works; designs; and symbols, names and images used in commerce. In order to do this, you have to apply for trademarks, business license, and sometimes a retail sales tax license depending on what state you live in. Virgil drops a link to a video showing you how to obtain a trademark without a lawyer and I will also be dropping the link at the end of this paragraph, (https://youtu.be/9MfjFtkMM1Q).
"From creating a brand to producing content for the brand, an essential factor that is often overlooked is to protect your intellectual property. Obtaining a trademark can sound confusing, but with this overview, you can initiate the process to start protecting your brand." – Virgil Abloh
Tip #3 - Adobe Creative Suite is...Well, Sweet!
When it comes to making the actual design, Adobe creative suite is the go to platform to go to. Here's why: photoshop, adobe illustrator, and adobe lightroom are apps creatives will be using the most when designing concepts for merchandise. The good thing about subscribing to adobe creative suite is that they give practice courses to help you learn how to use the software. Between those tips and youtube videos you won't have to worry about paying artist to create your idea for egregious prices. Also, let's be honest, no one really enjoys the process of trying to explain a creative idea/design to someone. At times it tends to get awkward when the person of hire isn't matching your passionate energy.
Tip #4 - CUT OUT THE MIDDLE MAN!?
Invest in a screen printer! This may be the most important tip of the first five I give simply because it promotes dedication and resiliency. Allow to me to explain. Once your brand starts earning some money, use that money to buy your first business asset, (the screen printer). After you learn how to operate a screen printer, you no longer have to pay companies like printful or rush order tees, or whatever screen printing shop you've been going to ever again. Virgil gives major sauce how you can start with this by dropping yet another video link explaining how to screen print, accompanied by links to the materials you will need to purchase, (https://youtu.be/RSpsWewtxXw).
Tip #5 - Order "Blank" T-Shirts
This may come as common sense, but in order to screen print you need products to print on, right? The solution for that problem is simple, use google. There are literally thousands of wholesalers and wholesale websites you can use to supply your needs, but to help you out I will give you a few connects that I personally use(d) for SeTu Clothing Co™:
Four source is an example of a website that you have to sign up for. There's is no payment involved so don't fret about signing up it's required so there can be a means of separating the serious people and the "hobbyist".
Part Two ???
Again, these tips are all from Virgil Abloh instagram page, I am simply sharing the things that helped me the most on my journey. Stay tuned for the last five tips that helped me take my branding to another level!?
