How to take the 'perfect photo' to post on your brands social media accounts to increase engagements.
categories: Photography, Modeling, Fashion

One of the most important things to do when making social media post for fashion brands are to post pictures. One thing all fashion brands have in common is that they have their own aesthetic when it comes to their social media post. It works because it's coherent with the aesthetic of the brand allowing everything to be synchronous when creating social media ads. People want to see what it is your selling, while being able to imagine how your product will look on them before they purchase the product. Now, I will present you with a few ways you can improve your photo shooting to increase followers/engagements.
Stick To The Script
When brainstorming ideas for your brands photoshoot, make sure that the ideas coincide with what your brand stands for. That way you can apply the correct the marketing scheme for your product which could lead to more post engagements from potential customers. For example, if your brand is religion based, you don't want to post models in sexually explicit positions modeling the merchandise in a dark alley would you? You wouldn't. You would want the background scenery to be a church or somewhere peaceful like a meadow, while your model makes family friendly poses. The most important thing to focus when having a photoshoot is the mission statement and aesthetic of the brand and build the photoshoot around that. If new customers come across your promotions / social media post they should be able to loosely grab the idea behind your post. The goal is to keep them wanting more or grabbing their interest to the point the interact with your post. In youtube this is referred to as clickbait, but that has more of a negative meaning than anything so we won't call it that.
Lighting (Pre-Editing)
Tip #2, LIGHTING.
After you've created the outline for the photoshoot and your models ready to take pictures, all the attention goes to the camera. Before you get the camera in focus, you have to find the lightning that best compliments your models features. Lighting is a key factor in creating a successful image. Lighting determines not only brightness and darkness, but also tone, mood, and atmosphere, (Google,2022). Another thing to take note of when marketing for a fashion brand, the scenery and atmosphere of your photoshoot should properly align with the motive for posting advertisement. Getting the natural lighting correct also makes the editing process easier in the long run.
Invest In A Tripod
The primary purpose of the tripod is to hold the camera or phone completely steady allowing zero movement or vibration. This helps reduce the sway / motion blur that you get when taking photos by hand. With a tripod apart of your set, it will give models a sense of security when modeling for you because you have the appearance of a someone that knows what their doing. Having a tripod could also help you with your own camera confidence. There is just something about knowing that you can take still photos with no motion blur will give you the confidence to try more experimental shots thus, evolving your photoshoot game.
Aperture Settings
The last non editorial tip for having an amazing photoshoot is to correctly set the aperture when taking pictures of your model. Aperture is one of the most important settings when taking your picture. It determines the amount of light, the depth of field and the sharpness of a picture. If your getting creative, you can set the aperture low / high enough to offset the depth of field, giving your photos and a cool effect. This works especially well with sunset scenes.
