Beginners tips to Photoshop and Lightroom to help beef your editing skills.
By: JaDen Greene

Hello again! In this post i'll be giving the basics to editing on photoshop to help you take your brand to the next level. The right edit can bring more attention to your post, so this step is aas important as any. Creativity is encouraged, but sometimes being simple is better. Let's get started
Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom ... What's The Difference?
Adobe Photoshop is a raster graphics editor developed and published by Adobe Inc. for Windows and macOS. When creating new designs for merchandise, taking objects out of photos/videos, or editing photos/videos photoshop is usually the go to application. Adobe Lightroom is used exclusively for photography though. Similar to photoshop, lightroom's editing functions include white balance, presence, tone, tone curve, HSL, color grading, detail, lens corrections, and calibration manipulation, as well as transformation, spot removal, red eye correction, graduated filters, radial filters, and adjustment brushing. The name of the software is based on darkrooms used for processing light-sensitive photographic materials. The only difference between the editing functions between the two is the "camera raw filter" offered by photoshop is why I prefer the service.
Why Photoshop?
When editing on photoshop, i realize that I can get deeper and darker colors and also take out any impurities without having to import and export photos between apps. With photoshop, you also have the ability to add the same edits multiple times which can be useful to get a photo into that sweet spot without overdoing the applied edits. With photoshop you also have the ability to add textures and overlays to the image to give it that aesthetic that best fits your brand.
Keep In Mind
I've said this before, but when editing for your brand always keep in mind the objective your trying to accomplish when you post it on social media. Make sure that the photograph makes sense, and the edit isn't overly saturated, but also make sure the colors pop. If your brand is focused on streetwear fashion, then a great template would be dark lighting with vibrant colors. You don't have to follow that exact template but it's been proven to grab the eye of the consumer more than overly creative edits. Sometimes, simple is necessary.
It Takes Time...
Editing takes practice, practice, and more practice. It isn't for everyone, but for brands on a budget that's not the goal. The goal isn't to be professional, its to do good enough to increase sales and customer growth for your business. Even if you find yourself really struggling with editing images at first, Lightroom has preset templates you can use and just add your own finishing touches after applying the best fitting template.
Adobe or Adobe??
In conclusion, if anyone was to ask me what do I recommend as an editing tool for their brand, I would say use both lightroom and photoshop. You can edit your image on lightroom, and export it from one app to another in the settings tab. This is often times what I do, so that I may "stack edits" giving my images a deeper feel and a cooler look. On the other hand, if I had to chose one application it would be photoshop because I have more creative control on that application.
