That last post ended with quite the cliffhanger huh? Well my friend, the wait is over! As I mentioned in the previous post, I wanted to create a clothing brand with meaning. Majority of the small business owners involved in the fashion community is either doing;
streetwear based clothing
minimalistic clothing
basic text on tees / hoodies
or Fitness Clothing
so I had to think of ways to stand out from the majority. I began to evaluate my life, how far I've come, and where I've been mentally, emotionally, and sometimes even physically which led to me making the ultimate decision. Through my clothing brand, I will create products for people dealing with anxiety, mental / physical health struggles, and feelings of loneliness / being an outcast that will give them a ways of expressing themselves in a more comfortable manner. I will accomplish this through not only text placed on the products i offer, but accompanying streetwear themed graphics to make it more appealing to the younger demographic. As humans, talking about our mental / emotional struggles can make us uncomfortable. Especially when the person(s) we confide in doesn't care, doesn't show that care, or makes us feel like it's our fault for being this way.
For example, 13.4% of the American population identifies as black / african american. A staggering reported having a mental illness. That is approximately seven million people! Despite progress made over the years, racism continues to have an impact on the mental health of Black and African American people. Negative stereotypes and attitudes of rejection have decreased, but continue to occur with measurable, adverse consequences. Historical and contemporary instances of negative treatment have led to a distrust of authorities, many of whom are not seen as having the best interests of Black and African Americans in mind, (https://www.mhanational.org/).
Going forward...
I plan to produce content that coincides with my mission to help as many individuals as I can. I will also be donating to charities in the future, to further help make a difference in not only the black community, but the WORLD. Thank you for your time, I hope that you come back next week for our next installment.
Nice story bro, I seen you persevere through it all. This brand will be worldwide
